Anti-Aging Tips Over 40

It's never too late to adjust your skincare routine. Think of it like a new exercise routine. With a little dedication, determination, and training, you can undo or stop bad habits.
Around the age of 30, the body's collagen production slows down. Collagen plays a big role in the elasticity of our skin. When that production slows down, we tend to see our skin change with the addition of dark spots, larger pores, fine lines and wrinkles.
There is no shortage of anti-aging products that promise youthful, supple skin; however, some contain substances that may do more harm than good. Below are a few suggestions and tips for keeping skin healthy and glowing at any age.
Keeping the skin healthy from the inside:
Sleep is a crucial element of any skincare regimen, no matter your age. Lack of sleep can cause the skin to lose its elasticity, develop dark circles under the eyes and advance the signs of aging. On top of that, sleep deprivation can also reduce the skin's ability to recover from sun exposure.
In high doses, sodium can remove moisture from the skin and can also retain water, causing under-eye puffiness.
A lack of protein can cause gray hair, dull skin, and bad nails. A balanced diet full of healthy fats and proteins can provide the opposite: healthy skin and shiny hair.
Moisture is very important for healthy skin, making it look lively and firm. Water is also the Holy Grail that keeps the skin under your eyes supple and free from dark circles.

Sugar is everywhere! Along with other simple carbohydrates found in white bread, soda, and juices, it can cause your insulin levels to rise, which is bad for your skin. Inflammation can break down collagen and elastin, essential enzymes in youthful skin. Your daily sugar intake should not exceed 6 teaspoons.
The importance of protecting your skin from the sun's harmful ultraviolet rays cannot be underestimated. People should use a daily facial moisturizer with an SPF of at least 30. As the sun gets really old, it can be applied to your face, neck and chest to protect it from even accidental sun exposure. Wearing a hat is also very important.
Meditation, exercise, and laughter are great ways to relieve stress. Severe stress can show physical signs that make the skin more sensitive and reactive, which can cause acne and rashes. It can also aggravate some skin conditions, such as rosacea and psoriasis. Did you know that 80 percent of the sun's ultraviolet rays (UV) can pass through clouds? Skin damage caused by UV rays can lead to skin cancer. It can also cause age spots, discoloration, and skin aging and wrinkling.
Alcohol-free skin care can help skin that feels dry or produces too much oil. However, not all types of alcohol are bad for your skin.
